Vansichen Linear Technology, the linear motion specialist, is moving. They are swapping their premises on Hasselt’s ring road for a former waffle factory on Bedrijfsstraat in Kiewit. The company is keen to bring its offices and warehouse, which are currently several kilometres apart, under one roof. Vansichen plans to move into its home in autumn 2023.
Strong growth
Since 2008, Vansichen has been an established presence on the main ring road around Hasselt. Vansichen specialises in the linear technology niche. More specifically, they sell components for linear technology from various brands in addition to their own, self-designed systems. Over time, Vansichen has expanded its product range to include gantries and robot tracks.
Until 2018, warehouse operations were outsourced to third parties. Then, for the past four years, the company rented a warehouse, and everything was done in-house.
Vansichen was keen to further continue their growth and started looking for new premises that would support this goal and where all operations (office and warehouse) could come together. Taking their personnel into account, Vansichen limited their search to the Hasselt region. Ultimately, their eye fell on a former waffle factory.
Bedrijfsstraat 28
The property is located on Bedrijfsstraat, in the Kiewit Business Park, or Bedrijventerrein Kiewit. What’s more, it is a stone’s throw from the Corda Campus, a hotspot for (start-up) companies. The site is 48 acres with a production hall built in the 1990s and a residence and office space from the 1960s. The most recently built hall had already been renovated and insulated, so the warehouse was able to move in the summer of 2021. In mid-October of 2022, after the older sections had been demolished, Vansichen began work on a new, additional hall and office space. The new offices will comprise approximately 1200 square metres. This will allow Vansichen to employ up to 40 employees. Today, there are 25 employees in the team. The additional hall increases the size of the warehouse to 1300 m².
Embracing the future
It is certainly not obvious to realise such investments under the current circumstances. Rising material costs in the construction industry, soaring gas and energy prices, high inflation, declining purchasing power… This investment highlights Vansichen’s health and growth ambitions. With this investment, Vansichen is ready to embrace and continue its growth – which it wholeheartedly expects to continue in the years to come. The total project involves an investment of around €4 million.
